Best Massage Chair Under $300 Reviews
Now you have a basic understanding of how to choose the best inexpensive massage chair and the features offered in this price range. To give you the most options, I chose the top model from each of the most popular types of massage chairs. The main types are recliners, chaise lounge chairs, shiatsu, and office chairs. Your decision becomes even easier when you consider where you plan to use your chair the most.
The beauty of a folding shiatsu chair is portability. If you plan to use your chair at home and at work, this is a wonderful option to suit your needs. Recliners or chaise lounge chairs are great for home living rooms since they offer the most padding and overall comfort for longer periods of sitting.
In each review, I explain in more detail what makes these chairs the best budget massage chairs on the market. Plus, I share the pros & cons to consider before you buy a chair. Once you’ve had a few minutes to check out the reviews, you’ll know for sure which model gives you the most bang for your buck.
Homall Recliner Chair with Massage
This type of cheap reclining massage chair is popular and sold by a number of vendors. Currently, Homall offers the most reliable model available that comes backed by a 1-year replacement guarantee for installation problems, damage, and missing parts. While this isn’t an ironclad warranty, it’s better than what a lot of sellers offer in this price range. Oftentimes, you’ll find no warranty info at all or discover the warranty info in the package only after you buy the chair. We all know that sometimes when we buy something for cheap, we’re not really concerned about a warranty anyway. This is one reason why a lot of companies don’t even bother.
What makes the Homall model a good affordable massage chair? What I like about this chair the most is the number of features for the money. Choose between 4 different massage regions from the back down to the legs and 5 massage rhythms. There’s a total of 8 vibrating motors, plus a heat function. The chair itself is more comfortable than competing chairs. The convenience of 2 cup holders, a side pocket, and even a power lift standing feature for seniors & those with mobility issues are all nice touches.
During your massage, the recliner extends to a full 160º to get close to what a true zero-gravity massage chair offers. The chair swivels 360º, and the padding is good in the armrests. Finally, the chair features optional heat in the lumbar to soothe back pain and make every massage that much better. For the price, this is a tough chair to beat, and it’s certainly one of the best cheap massage chairs on the market.
BestMassage Folding Shiatsu Massage Chair
I’m going to tell you upfront that I’m a fan of this type of chair. It’s better than a massage cushion, and it delivers a better massage than budget reclining massage chairs because it features real massage rollers. With massage rollers, you get a deeper, more human-like shiatsu massage. The clear drawback is that this type of chair isn’t made for use as a full-time recliner. It’s better for use only when you want a massage. A clear advantage is its portability. Bring this chair with you to work or almost anywhere outside your home for a massage.
There are massage rollers in the back and neck sections that both move up and down for better coverage. In addition to the rollers, there are vibrating motors in the seat of the chair with 3 intensity levels to choose from. The icing on the cake is the optional back heat setting. When you combine all of the settings, you get a shiatsu massage with vibration and heat. That’s not bad at all when you consider the price of this chair. Then, once you’re done, easily fold the chair up and store it until your next massage.
During your massage, you have the option to recline the chair to a full 132º for added comfort. The control panel is conveniently built into the armrest to make changing the modes and intensity levels even easier. Each massage lasts for up to 15 minutes before the chair automatically turns off. All in all, this is awesome value for the money, and BestMassage is one of the more trustworthy budget massage chair brands.
BestMassage Massage Recliner
This model by BestMassage is the cheapest reclining massage chair that’s worth the money. At the time of this writing, it costs under $150 and offers enough features to make it well worth the price. The key missing feature is heat, though, if you’re unconcerned about heat and only want a couple of vibrating massage motors, this chair costs a lot less than the similar Homall massage chair.
There are 2 total vibrating motors in the lower back of the chair with 8 massage functions and 3 intensity levels. The included remote makes it easy to find your desired mode for any occasion. Considering the position of the massagers, this chair is best for people who want a massage in the lumbar region. The chair itself reclines to a max angle of 160º, which is quite nice if you plan to nap in the chair while getting your massage.
The durable PU leather is easy to clean in case of any spills, and there’s enough high-density foam lining the chair to make it comfortable to use as a full-time recliner for watching TV. The most important thing to consider is that this is more of a comfortable recliner first, with a massage function that does a decent job.
BestMassage Office Chair Ergonomic Massage Chair
The final BestMassage chair in this guide is the company’s office chair model. Of the 5 chairs in this guide, this model is currently the cheapest. The feature that impresses me the most is the kneading massage technique for this price. You have the option to choose between kneading and vibrating massage modes. In total, there are 6 vibrating motors with 2 in the seat and 4 in the back.
The chair has an adjustable height between 19 and 22″, though, the seller did not list the actual dimensions of the chair in the product description. There’s also no mention of a warranty. These are two points to keep in mind before you buy this chair. It’s also even more important to consider the pros & cons I list below to see what current owners are saying.
The included remote gives you the option to choose between different intensities and modes. The max massage time is 15 minutes, which is about par for the course when browsing budget chairs. Outside of the massage functions, I really like the design of the chair. Overall, this is a comfortable office chair that supports up to 250lbs and offers a good vibrating massage for relaxing while you work.
Mellcom Massage Lounge Chair
Of the best budget massage chairs currently available, this one is definitely one of my favorites. What I like about this chair right off the bat is that I don’t have to worry about it being too small. It’s also the perfect curve to cradle my back and the rest of my body while I enjoy my massage. In total, there are 8 massage points that deliver a vibrating massage throughout the length of the body. You have 5 modes to choose from with 2 vibration intensity levels.
Another highlight is the heating element in the lumbar, which is perfect for people who want a good back massage for cheap. If you have a screened-in porch, this is the perfect chair for a nap, to read a book, or just to relax while watching the world do its thing. The main regions the massage points target are the shoulders, back, legs, and buttocks. Lastly, the materials are easy to clean, durable, and the max weight capacity of 300lbs is nice to see.
Here are the pros and cons I found reported by owners in the Mellcom reviews:
The top budget massage chairs are limited, although, if you know what to look for, you get good value for the money. The key consideration is that as the quality of the chair goes up, the quality of the massage goes down in this price range. If you value the quality of your massage first and aren’t looking for a chair to sit in for long hours, your best bet is a folding shiatsu massage chair with massage rollers. This is the best budget massage chair that gives a good massage for the cheapest price.
Once you move up the ladder in chair quality, the best you’ll find in this price range is vibration massage. If you’re willing to go one more step up the ladder, you’ll find that the top massage chairs under $500 offer better features that may be worth the extra money to you.
If I had to choose a chair in this guide for myself, I would go with the folding shiatsu or chaise lounge chair with vibration massage. Be sure to consider where you plan to use the chair and the features that matter the most to you before you buy one.
